Compliance covers a wide range of topics, such as CDD/AML, Market abuse, Fraud, ESG, Treating clients fairly and Privacy as well as rules relating to behavior of staff (e.g. private investments, gifts & entertainment and conflicts of interest). The highly motivated team members of the Global Compliance team support Robeco to ensure the company remains a sound and compliant asset manager. They identify external regulations, assist in risk assessments, develop and implement internal guidance and organize training and awareness. But they also maintain oversight, advise, challenge, investigate, monitor and report on compliance and maintain supervisory relations. They act as a partner to the business in its achievements to serve our clients and reach our strategic goals. Cooperating actively with the business and other teams within Robeco is a key focus point. Just as focusing on modern compliance practices making use of data, technologies and new ways of working.
The Compliance team covers Robeco’s global activities, including headquarters in Rotterdam, various international offices within the EU, and also our locations in the USA (New York), APAC (Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Shanghai, Sydney), Dubai, the UK and Switzerland. The team in Rotterdam now consists of 15 employees, but we also have local Compliance Officers in various other international offices. Worldwide we are with 25 and we work as one integrated global team. The team also works closely together with other control functions at Robeco like Risk Management, Legal and Internal Audit.
Position & Requirements
Global MLRO & team lead
Robeco intends to hire a Compliance officer / Global MLRO / Team lead in Rotterdam. As the formal AML/CTF/CPF Compliance officer of Robeco, the Global MLRO is responsible for adequate set up and functioning of the AML/CTF/CPF and Sanctions (AML) Framework, including:
- Development and maintenance of the AML risk assessment framework.
- Policies and procedures are in place, kept up to date and implemented effectively.
- Monitoring whether the measures, policies, controls and procedures comply with the legal obligations.
- Advice senior Management on high-risk customers and/or investments (AML perspective).
- Ensure AML training within Robeco based on a ongoing training program.
- The internal reporting procedures are brought to the attention of all staff.
- Reporting of unusual transactions to the relevant FIU
- Reporting to senior Management and AML responsible board member of Robeco and Luxembourg based Fund Board of Directors on all relevant topics.
The role also includes the following responsibilities as a team lead:
- Managing the international ‘client integrity’ team within Compliance, consisting of several direct reports in Rotterdam and several local Compliance officers.
- Alignment and coordination collaboration with the other three teams within Compliance.
- Liaison with senior management for several business domains.
The candidate - desired skills and expertise
The candidate we look for is combines as much as possible of the following characteristics:
- Senior compliance officer with several years of experience in a comparable position at an asset manager, or otherwise experience with compliance and the internal & external regulations for financial institutions.
- Broad understanding of compliance risks and specifically ML/TF/PF and Sanctions risks.
- Deep knowledge of the European and Luxembourg (CSSF) AML regulation and Asset Managers regulatory obligations.
- Experience with reviews from and communication with regulators.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English including preparing and giving presentations, and demonstrated ability to prepare concise, accurate reports for management.
- Firm, enjoyable and connecting personality.
- A business and client driven mindset, ability to work in a changing environment and focus and skills to execute and deliver.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership, project management and organizational skills.
- +7rs of AML experience.
